Our Mission
The Medical Staff Office is dedicated to assist New Orleans East Hospital (NOEH) in its goal to deliver the highest quality of patient care by credentialing all medical staff professionals in compliance with the State of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH); The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.

The Medical Staff Office
The Medical Staff Office manages the medical staff application and privileging process, coordinates the credentialing of all initial and reappointment applications, medical staff committees, emergency on-call schedules, and provides support to the medical staff officers and clinical medical department chairpersons.

Credentialing and Privileging
Credentialing and privileging are processes of formal recognition and attestation that a physician is both qualified and competent.  Credentialing verifies that a physician meets the qualifications as determined by New Orleans East Hospital’s Board of Directors by reviewing such items as the individual’s license, experience, certification, education, training, malpractice and adverse clinical occurrences, clinical judgment, and character by investigation and observation. Privileging defines a physician’s scope of practice and the clinical services he or she may provide. Privileging is based on demonstrated competence and is a data driven process.  The following practitioners that hold a current license in the State of Louisiana may request a credentialing packet for credentialing and/or privileging at New Orleans East Hospital: physicians, dentists, and podiatrists and Allied Health Professionals.   Allied Health Professionals who provide direct patient care must be under the direct supervision of a member of the medical staff that holds current clinical privileges.  The following categories of Allied Health Professional who are eligible for clinical privileges/functions at NOEH:
  • Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA)
  • Clinical Psychologists (Ph.D.)
  • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNP).
