Credentialing and Clinical Privileging

Credentialing and clinical privileging are processes of formal recognition and attestation that professional healthcare providers applying for membership and/or clinical privileges are qualified and competent to perform the clinical privileges requested.  Credentialing verifies that a professional healthcare provider meets the qualifications, as determined by the Governing Board of NOEH, by reviewing such items as the individual’s license, experience, certification, education, training, malpractice and adverse clinical occurrences, clinical judgment, and character by investigation and observation. Clinical Privileging defines the scope of practice and the clinical services he or she may provide. Clinical Privileging is based on demonstrated competence and is a data driven process.

The following professional healthcare providers that hold a current license in the State of Louisiana and meets the eligibility requirements may apply for medical staff membership and/or clinical privileges:
MD, DO, DDS, DPM
Physician Assistant (PA)
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA)
Nurse Practitioners (NP)
Clinical Psychologists (Ph.D.)

Note:  A professional allied healthcare provider who provides direct patient care must be under the direct supervision of a member of NOEH medical staff who holds current clinical privileges.
